Prototype AP Russian Exam: OPIs are scheduled for Saturday, March 18, 2017 and Saturday, March 25, 2017

Students in grades 9-12 will be taking the NEWL Prototype AP Russian Exam 2017. The first part of the exam is the Oral Proficiency Interview. American Councils certified examiners will test students' speaking, listening and comprehension skills.

Oral Proficiency Interviews are scheduled for Saturday, March 18, 2017 and Saturday, March 25, 2017, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Every student has an assigned time slot for their interview. Information about the assignments was distributed to parents and students on February 15, 2017.

The Oral Proficiency Interview takes 20-25 minutes to complete. Examiners will ask various questions which may include questions about everyday life, Russian literature and culture, and hobbies or interests.

Responsibilities of the student:

• come to the examination location 15 minutes before the OPI start time
• bring government or school ID to verify identity
• be ready to be called for the interview by the school proctor
• answer examiner questions by phone
• don't use any electronic devices during the interview
• don't use offensive language
